Do You Know the Difference Between a Temporary Compact and a Full-Size Spare Tire?
Orchard Park, NY drivers should know how to change a flat tire. Getting a flat is inevitable for most people. Here at West Herr Dodge, we'd also like to share with you the difference between the types of spares.
If you have a smaller car, you likely have a compact temporary spare tire. These are also often called donuts. They're ideal for smaller vehicles because they take up less space and are easier to carry. The downside is that you shouldn't drive much over 55 miles per hour and you'll need to replace it with a regular tire rather quickly.
A full-size spare tire can be a bit of a hindrance because they take up a lot of trunk space. On the other hand, you can drive as you normally would with them. You will need to be sure to put the spare into your regular tire rotation schedule in order to maintain even wear.
